Self Storage tips to keep your things fresh.

You love your things. Here are some tips to help you store them the way they deserve to be stored.

Organize Your Storage Unit

Place frequently used items near the door and create a walkway to the rear of the unit, keep items at least a foot from the door. This will create more airflow and circulation in your unit.

Dishes & Glassware

Be sure to individually wrap all dishes and use newspaper to fill any unused space minimizing risk of breakage.

Storing Items in Containers

When possible try to store soft goods such as clothing and linens in plastic containers to protect from moisture.

Cardboard Boxes

Do not place contents directly on the floor. Use a pallet or strips of wood underneath boxes to allow for circulation.

Clothing

Fold your clothes and store them in dressers or plastic containers to maximize space and help protect them from moisture

Perishable Food Items

Absolutely NO perishable food items permitted in unit as this could attract rodents or bugs.

Books & Documents

To protect against moisture, place boxes on pallets or skids. Sealed rubber storage containers are recommended.

Tools & Equipment

Metal tools & sport equipment should be free of moisture and wiped with a rag containing a few drops of machine oil.

Mattresses

Wrap the mattress in cotton sheets or blankets. Keep off the floor to allow for air circulation. Mattresses should not be wrapped or stored in plastic.

Vehicles

Store your car with a full tank of gas to avoid gaseous fumes.

Valuables

Do not store items such as jewellery, financial/legal papers, photos, coins, etc. Please take them with you.
